I decided to focus my website on the title “Lifting Learners”. A lot of my coworkers know that I have a love of weightlifting, eating clean, and living a well rounded, healthy lifestyle. My love of weightlifting is in my blood. My grandfather went to the 1952 Olympics for weightlifting and has been teaching me proper form, tips, and tricks since I was a child. He moved on to be the Strength Coach for the Chicago Bears. Weightlifting is not just about looking my best. I feel empowered when lifting. I feel strong. I love to progress I can visually see when my muscles grow. I love reaching a new PR (personal record). I push myself in ways many people can never say they have. I feel proud at the end of every workout. I am constantly learning new exercises and trying new things. The endorphins rushing through my body keep my mind on the positive side of everything in my life. Overall, it is my world, a complete lifestyle I choose to live. I make connections to my weightlifting a lot when I am teaching. When students are stuck, or trying to overcome a challenge I am constantly bringing up my past struggles with lifting. I am always learning new things even as an adult. They like that real, genuine connection I make to my own life. Weightlifting also relieves my stressors that come with teaching. It is my time to forget about anything & everything stressing me out in life and just LIFT. I am exhausted by the end of the day both physically and mentally, but I am ready for the day to come!
