I decided to take part in Slice of Life 2019 because of a conversation I had with a coworker. The conversation started off with different ways the students could create and present what they have learned in our Biography Writing Unit. I did not want to box them into writing another chapter book. I was pushing the idea to let them create whatever they want as long as it had the features of a biography. Features our students uncovered when exploring biographies:
My coworker agreed. As we continued our discussion we came to another conclusion: How can we expect our students to write or consider themselves writers, if we ourselves do not write? I have never considered myself to be a writer, so I think that a Slice of Life will be a great way to practice writing, discover challenges, and figure out the steps I took to became a writer that, in the end, I can share with my students. I hope you enjoy! Feel free to comment and share. #d100inspires #sol19
